With 7 top 10's, 4 top 5's, and 2 BIG WINS in Redfish Cup competition, South Carolina's Team Alderman-Pitts was a team to watch at every stop on the tour. 2009 was another banner year with a dramatic victory in Texas, solidifying Ben and Ronnie as one of the truly elite teams in professional redfishing. With the Cup gone, Ben has moved on to fish the IFA Redfish Tour's Atlantic Division and the Lowcountry Redfish Cup. Check back for tournament updates as the season progresses. Kemah Texas Redfish Cup Champions 2009!!!
Day One's 18.55#s provided a comfortable lead ![]() 15.41#s on day two put us safely in
the top 5 in 2nd place
Day 3's 17.52#s topped Erik Rue and Larry Puckett's 16.78#s, and Rick Murphy and Geoff Page's 16.28#s, to take the event by over half a pound!
Wow!! What a great week in Texas! Ronnie and I were fortunate to find the right area and get the right bites and win big in the 2009 Kemah Redfish Cup event. After charging out to a pound and a half lead on day one, we played a little opossum on day two, then slammed the door shut on day three! Fishing to our strengths in the grass in Louisiana was the key to our victory. We couldn't have done it without the incredible new Maverick 18 HPX powered by a fast and reliable Yamaha F150. We ran about 100 miles each way for 3 days straight, at speeds over 60 mph, in a poling skiff! Armed with spinner-baits from Saltwater Assassasin, Johnson Spoons, new penny Gulp! shrimp, and a Ribbit frog...we were able to silently pole around and catch the right fish in short order. Win number 2 proves the first one was no fluke and solidifies our team as one of pro redfishing's elite.
